So...it's been only a
few days since I last e-mailed and I'm not sure what to write about.
While I figure this out let me respond...
Man! I really want to
hear Josh and Sam sing! Hey, I had a brilliant idea just come to mind. If
you record Josh and Logan, or just Josh and Sam or whatever singing gospel
related music and put it on a CD I can listen to it. All...the...time.
You have snow too?
What in the heck? Christ must be coming or something...
So, the snow
here is still freaking people out. Two days ago it rained and snowed at
the same time so there was slush all over the roads. Luckily, it was 32 for
most of the day so there was no ice, but on Saturday we got a call from the
Hermanas...and they had slid into a ditch. We got there to help them and we
were shocked that they hadn't flipped over. The car was on a steep incline and
could easily have done that. Hermana Wilkinson stood there and was visibly
shaken, but Hermana Jensen was just glad they didn't hit a pole. We got there
the same time that Brother and Sister White drove by. They told us that they
didn't know why they were driving to Crestwood that day, but they knew they
were supposed to. Can I get a Hallelujia chorus?
Needless to say we
wouldn't have been able to get that car out without the help of Brother White
and the bag of kitty litter (for traction) that we brought. It was actually
really funny and we had an awesome time doing it. It was only after we got the
car out of the ditch that we got a text from the ZL's saying that we should
prayfully consider driving on the roads. How appropriate...
It's funny that
members texted us the last week telling us to stay off the roads and
to stay home. Hahaha! Nope. We've got important stuff to do.
We only were able to
talk to 8 people this week outside of tracting, because everyone is hibernating
inside. It is frustrating, but at least it is starting to melt and people are
emerging.
What's funny is that
on the day that it was -12 you would think these people with million dollar
mansions would take pity on us and let us inside, but no. The weather seeps
into their hearts. Blegh!
I can't complain too
much about the weather. Everytime I read Dallyn's e-mails I have to start
humming the song "Count Your Blessings".
We actually decided to
drop in on Br which was the best idea ever. His daughter, M, was there
and she is the cutest thing! She's 13 and we're pretty sure she is the way into
Br's heart. He was so comfortable with us there and we were laughing and
talking. When we asked him how his Book of Mormon reading was going he
embarrasingly said that he hadn't done it and M said, "Dad! You
promised them you would read it!"
Needless to say he
commited to read at least 15 seconds a day. And we gave M a Book of Mormon
as well. :) We're hoping to see him again on Thursday.
Last night we took
D to the Mission Home Fireside again. This time she got up and bore her
testimony in front of a ton of people. It was really sweet and heartfelt. She
really knows this church is true. It is awesome! The Spirit was so strong. It
was much better than the last Fireside we came to. Except for this annoying
Elder behind me! I have named him Elder Smug, because he wouldn't be quiet
while people were speaking and he was making all these snide remarks about the
people that were up there. Sheesh! Emilee, later in life, don't date return
missionaries. Date the consecrated return missionaries.
Josh! There was this
recent convert there who had a Doctor 10 style dress. She was such a
nerd! It was awesome! Her name was Patches and she used Doctor Who references
in her testimony and she was so funny. That's all I have to say about that.
Also, e-mail me you fool! :)
So the bold thing is
really working out! We have two new investigators that hopefully will keep
their appointment with us.
That's the hard part.
People seem interested to hear our message and then they don't answer our calls
or their doors. Or the door is answered by their die hard Baptist/Catholic/ect
spouse or parent that shoos us away.
Right now, I'm just
riding on the fact that those who are prepared for us will listen and will keep
commitments and will be baptized and will go to the temple. As long as we are
working hard, being bold, and being obedient they will come. It's in the Lord's
timing and it will work out.
I have been studying
the Restoration for the past two weeks and am just loving it! It just makes so
much sense. The Church is so true. I also am falling in love with James
E. Talmage's "Jesus the Christ'. I loved the Apostasy section. It
was hell-shaking.
Anyway, I can finally
send pictures! Yay! They'll consist of D's baptism, snow, and
something that Josh will appreciate ;)
I love you all so
much! I was kind of bummed that there were no pictures from you this week. :(
I'll just look at the old ones :)
Thank you for all the
prayers and love! Also, the neck pillow. My neck feels so much better!
All my love forevers
and evers!
Raye
I figured out how to do those!
